After 24 hours of travel, 2 transfers, humidity shock, and falling on my face with my (now-) 17-kilo backpack, I finally arrived at the hotel in Phuket, Thailand yesterday, where my dear friends Alica, Max, and Eileen were already waiting for me! After my stress-crying fit, I greeted everyone and unpacked everything in a relaxed manner and took a nap. The joy of meeting my dear friends here was enormous, although I don't think I could show it in the first moment because I was simply at the end of my nerves :D In the evening, we all went together to the vegetarian festival, which is currently taking place here in Phuket. We were not disappointed, it was a super tourist-free event, a long street full of all kinds of delicacies and a ceremony in a temple. After some snacks, we sat down to enjoy a super delicious noodle soup. It was a really successful first evening and it was so nice to share the time with Alica, Max, and Eileen!
Today, Alica and Max rented scooters and after getting up, we headed straight to the 'Big Buddha' (a huge Buddha statue/temple, high up on the mountain in Phuket). The road was quite adventurous because it was uphill all the time! 🏍 And so it happened that Max and Eileen fell with the scooter. In the first moment, we were all shocked, but when I saw that both of them got up and were fine, I started laughing hysterically, Alica was worried about the scooter, and 10 cars were standing behind us impatiently waiting! Well, like I said, everything was okay, so we went straight uphill and eventually made it to the Buddha. Yeah, it was pretty cool, I have to say! And the view from up there - amazing!
From there, we went to a so-called 'secret beach' which unfortunately was heavily polluted. But the sea, the surrounding islands, and the sky were still beautiful - that's how I imagined Thailand! And today we were so lucky with the weather, it didn't rain at all during the day :) (we speculate that my mom has blessed us because today is the anniversary of her death)
Tomorrow our paths will unfortunately separate for a while - Ei and I will fly to Chiang Mai and A&M will head towards Koh something - the plan is to meet again on Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party on the 17th! I'm super excited, it's going to be a crazy once-in-a-lifetime event!
In summary, I can only say: 1.5 days in Thailand and it feels like a year, I already like Thailand so much, it's so nice to have good friends around, the food is amazing (and I haven't had any stomach problems yet), it's already so much fun here and I'm curious to see what's to come!
So, Thai greetings and kisses 😘
