Bus ride

I actually wanted to replace my torn pants in Chania, but I preferred to take the first bus to Heraklion and pimp my gear there. Of the three outdoor stores in Heraklion, only one was still in operation. But I managed to get everything I needed and looked for a hostel. My plan was to hike the island from east to west and get out where I left off from the other direction, in Sfakion. And since the bus to Zakros only runs on Tuesdays, I had some time to stroll around Heraklion. In the evening, I had a good conversation with Christoph, a Hungarian who is studying psychology. In my room, one person snored and another person freaked out and kept kicking the bed, which only provided temporary relief. Earplugs only help to a limited extent.
On Tuesday, I took the bus to Sitia and then continued to Zakros. In Zakros, I started hiking right away. I already knew the route to Kato Zakros from 2019 with Sonja. The Gorge of the Dead is wonderful. Kato Zakros is a rough stone beach with taverns, taxis, and a few guesthouses. There wasn't much going on there yet, and you were already approached on the street. I just found it unsympathetic. So I went back to Zakros with my luggage and checked into the hotel where Sonja and I stayed back then.
