Day 15 - Punta Arenas

We now had two "travel days" ahead of us, as we wanted to go from southern Argentina to northern Chile and unfortunately there was no affordable direct connection from El Calafate to San Pedro de Atacama.

It was only a few minutes' walk from the hostel to the bus terminal, where the bus back to Puerto Natales (starting point for the W-Trek a few days ago) departed around 8 am. Before departure, our passports and entry documents to Chile were checked at the counter, which made the process very quick at both border stations, and after a good four and a half hours of driving, we arrived in Puerto Natales. From there, we continued by bus to Punta Arenas, the southernmost city in the world. Many tourists start tours to Patagonia or expeditions to Antarctica from here; we had only booked one night there before flying further.

We arrived at the hostel around 6:30 pm and were warmly greeted by the owner, who gave us a free upgrade to a larger room and immediately arranged a taxi for the transfer to the airport - nice guy. Our stomachs were growling from the bus ride, and we wanted to stretch our legs a bit, so we headed to a small pizzeria in the center where we could enjoy a delicious dinner.
