This week was really nice. I woke up every day at 4 am to check if the little lambs were there. (Luckily there were never any during my shift because I'm still not exactly sure when I should do what) and I milked Coco every morning. Coco is the cow that had the calf and I always milk on one side and the calf drinks on the other side. It's just difficult to milk when the calf doesn't drink because then Coco just runs back and forth. I only milk a little bit for the cats and dogs.
On Friday I had free time. The family had to go to the eye doctor and such a trip is already planned in advance because you have to feed all the animals for 2 days and if you are already in the city, you can also buy things that you can't buy otherwise. So I was alone from 9 am to 7 pm. After I finished all the tasks, I spent the whole time with the dogs. We went for a big walk around the paddocks, made snow angels and played in the snow on the farm. :)
And then it snowed all night :) when I left the house on Saturday morning at 4 am, there was for sure 30cm more snow than before. I couldn't see the sheep anymore... just big snow hills in the meadow. The snow now reaches up to my knee :) When I checked again at noon, I found 2 little lambs :) John and I were home alone and we put them in one of the sheep cages and looked for a heat lamp. Two more lambs were born this morning, but today it was even colder (-28°) and they freeze immediately because they are so wet (the first one already had a lot of ice on its legs and ears). So we took them into the kitchen in front of the oven to defrost and dry off. Kitty was also happy about that. Yesterday evening Laurie's mother came back to help us with the sheep, because you have to check every 2 hours so that the lambs don't freeze.
Otherwise everything is as usual... every evening there is a lot of ice cream for dessert, which is super cool. I don't think I've ever eaten as much ice cream in my entire life as I have this month. And whenever guests come, we have ice cream with cake. :)
