Chile: Desert, Wine, Goodbye

Arriving in Chile, we were greeted by the driest desert in the world, fortunately with pleasant temperatures at this time of year, allowing us to fully enjoy the sun. The town of San Pedro de Atacama invited us to relax for a few days, to cook for ourselves for the first time in a long time, to take a mountain bike tour through the 'lunar landscape' of the desert, and, fittingly, to observe the stars at night.

Now we are in the final stages of our South America trip and spending it in Central Chile, where spring is just beginning. Our last stop is in the beautiful art city of Valparaiso, with its colorful houses and unique graffiti that define the cityscape. Just around the corner from Valparaiso, as a small private farewell celebration for this part of our journey, we embarked on our own wine tour in the Casablanca region, with a tasting of the well-loved Chilean wines.

Today, our time in Central and South America is finally coming to an end. Fortunately, we still have two more stages ahead of us - the USA and Indonesia! :-)
