#15 - Last Day in Búzios

បោះពុម្ពផ្សាយ: 12.03.2018

Búzios is truly beautiful and we definitely recommend visiting if your trip takes you nearby. We saw the statue of Brigitte Bardot several times as we walked by, but never felt compelled to sit next to the other people who were sitting there. The fishing village of Búzios became famous and popular with tourists. Unfortunately, we had some bad luck here, but fate must have a reason for it...

After the theft incident yesterday, we started the morning with renewed motivation to see more of the islands. With our towels under our arms and everything else in a plastic bag, we no longer have any hand luggage. Our buggy is still working, although it is acting up a bit today, so we set off to the other side of the peninsula. Our first stop is another beach called "Tartaruga". We find it easily and drive along a pretty winding road until we reach the beach, where someone assigns us a spot. As the weather forecast predicted, it is cloudy and we can see dark clouds approaching from afar. Because it is incredibly humid, the sea is absolutely calm. It feels more like a lake, and even kids could play safely here. We decide to dry off and find our next stop. Just as we start driving again, the clouds change direction and heavy drops start falling. We drive in the rain for a while and eventually decide to stop and put the roof back on at least. So the continuation of the journey should not be a problem - our belongings are also waterproof in the plastic bag. Or they should be... if only the buggy would start again - starting it several times and pushing it doesn't help. Why is this happening again?! I sit on the curb first, have a drink, smoke a cigarette, and think about what to do next. So Dani stays with the buggy and I take a taxi to the rental shop. I explain with hands and feet what happened and that I can't get the vehicle registration because it's been missing since yesterday. Luckily, our license plate number wasn't too difficult, and that also solved the problem. For the third time, we finally set off to join Dani and the practically wrecked buggy. She manages to get it running with great difficulty, and then someone takes us back with their car. They say we can have a new buggy. We decline, we've had enough, even though our tank is full. The good thing about this whole situation is that the guy today only charges us two-thirds of the price for the lost documents, and he doesn't really check our contract. Luckily for us...

Finally, around 2 p.m., we make it - on foot, the clouds have moved on - to have lunch, where we can relax a bit and then splash around for the rest of the day. Figuratively and literally, because on the way back to the hotel before dinner, we got just as wet as if we had been in the shower. We found that wet is wet, whether it's from the sea or the sky.

Contrary to our plan to go to Cabo Frio after Rio (beach), we decide to go straight back because I want to see more of Rio and Dani doesn't need any more surprises ;-).
