Today we continued our journey from Tbilisi to Batumi. After leaving the hectic city traffic behind in Tbilisi, we drove on a well-built highway towards Kutaisi. Unfortunately, it eventually came to an end, so we had to drive through many construction sites (the highway continues there over bridges and tunnels) and through several small towns. The people there can feel sorry for them when they see the masses of vehicles passing through the towns. However, there are also many roadside stalls within these towns. I wonder if the residents would still do business if everyone used the eventually completed new highway and no longer passed through their towns? Well, everything has its pros and cons...
Later, we continued along a well-built highway past Kutaisi. The surrounding area was mostly flat, with mountain ranges visible in the distance.
After the end of the highway, we continued along a well-built country road, passing many small towns, lots of greenery, rivers, and forests... This was actually the most beautiful part of the drive, cruising along a country road at speeds between 50 and 80, enjoying the scenery and relaxing.
Throughout the entire route, there was a surprisingly high number of free-ranging cattle. They were even standing on the median of the highway. I wonder how the owners find their animals again? There was even a pig standing by the roadside within a small village. I wonder if they are happy animals?
Arriving in Batumi, the last few kilometers were very slow. The city is full of tourists and cars, so it took a while to make our way through the city center.
When we arrived at the hotel, we even got a parking space right in front of the door, which is like winning the lottery in this area. We had dinner at a cozy restaurant near the beach and then took a stroll along the beach.
Once again, it was a beautiful day. We covered a total of 378 mostly enjoyable kilometers today.
