A Berlin Autumn

បោះពុម្ពផ្សាយ: 19.11.2017

Autumn in Berlin. Strong wind, intermittent rain. We'd better sit by the warm heater and read. We look out the window and see that the green outside has turned brown and fallen to the ground. Advantage: we can finally see the boats on the canal and notice that there are still people on the other side.

But we should still move a little. It's good that we have a date with the Reichstag dome. Always beautiful, even if the view is limited by the rain. We know that the outside world is a great city and inside there is plenty to see.

Our Totensonntag cemetery is only 100 meters away on the other side of Buschkrugallee. We've always wanted to go there, but we've always hurried past. A very small neighborhood cemetery right on the canal, actually only for residents of the area.

One of them was Herrmann Boddin, longtime Lord Mayor of Berlin, who was buried here in 1907. During his lifetime, Herrmannstraße and Herrmannplatz were built and named, which of course had nothing to do with him. After his death, Boddinstraße and an underground station were added.

Then there is a grave field with the uniform date of death in April 1945. They certainly weren't all from here.

We end the weekend with a walk in Tempelhof. There are hardly any trees here that can blow onto our heads. But we have to watch out for kites that are inadequately controlled by their holders.
