HOT WATER BEACH II / COROMANDEL
After being a little late yesterday, today we took the shovels in hand and went back to Hot Water Beach - digging our own hot pools. That was really something different.
The water was so hot at times that you could burn your feet, so you even had to be careful where you dug your hole. In the end, I admit that we just looked for a ready-made hole and stayed there for a while - why bother digging one when there was one available xD. After that, we went directly to Coromandel, our last stop before Auckland. The "must-do" in this city is a ride on the "Driving Creek Railway".
The one-hour ride takes you through a rainforest up to a lookout platform where you can see all of Coromandel. The mountain railway is one of the steepest pure adhesion railways in the world and was built by a potter on his private property. After that, we went on a walk through the rainforest, because what would a day be without a walk.
