At 5:00 a.m. we went to the geysers at approximately 4,300m east of the Atacama Desert. They are said to be the highest geysers in the world. Luckily, I discovered the offline maps of Google Maps... I can highly recommend them. The drive in the dark to the volcano was very challenging, especially with fog and unpaved roads. After a 2-hour drive, we arrived at the destination with a temperature of -5 degrees Celsius (felt like -50 degrees). Unfortunately, the geysers were not as impressive as expected due to the fog.
However, the subsequent drive towards Calama was simply breathtaking. In the late afternoon, we arrived at our destination Iquique after a (very) boring drive through the desert.
