Back home

It has been over a week since we have been back home, and we have to say, we feel very comfortable here! Everything is so beautifully lush and it is pleasantly warm! We have been sleeping with the windows wide open and it is still cozy warm. We feel a bit like in paradise, and we now appreciate many things that we used to take for granted (warm running water, good roads, proper garbage collection, etc.)

On the weekend after our arrival, we had a small welcome party where we saw many dear friends and relatives and enjoyed a beautiful and entertaining afternoon.

We already feel very at home here with us. All the cabinets are tidied up, the house is cleaned, and we have greeted the neighbors. The only thing that gave us a shock is our garden. The gardener we had hired for its care completely forgot about it. The real estate agency that was responsible for renting our house hastily hired another gardening company that cleared the worst 'jungle'.

Looking back, we had a fantastic 10 months, and this trip will remain unforgettable to us. With very few exceptions, we had only good experiences with the people we met on our journey. We had many beautiful encounters and were often touched by people's friendliness and helpfulness.

Before the trip, we were a bit afraid of our own courage. Now we are a bit proud that we have handled the challenges well. Booking flights, bus tickets, or accommodations from our mobile phone always worked, and despite occasional language barriers, we got through everywhere.

Until September, we now have time to readjust at home. We hope to maintain some of our serenity and carry it into everyday life.

We hope you had as much fun with the reports and photos as we did, and we would like to thank you once again for faithfully accompanying us on our journey. And who knows, maybe there will be another time.
