Just before half-past nine, we set off from St. Joseph to Traverse City. Our first stop was in South Haven. We were initially at the marina. There were plenty of barbecue grills available for use. Private grills must be marked with the word 'private' to avoid any confusion.
In a small café in the town center, we got ourselves coffee and a blueberry muffin. Oh my God, it was delicious.
After a brief visit to the beach, we continued on to Saugatuck/Douglas. We only drove through Saugatuck by car before heading to Oval Beach, arguably one of the most beautiful beaches on Lake Michigan. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay here for long. We had to proceed to our next stop, Grand Haven. There, we were also at the beach. It was oddly very misty, and you couldn't see far out onto the lake. In Grand Haven, we first had a meal. We went to Toasted Pickles, which is absolutely recommended. Next door was a shop where you're glad when the tail’s wagging.
After the brief detour, we then continued straight to Traverse City, where we arrived just before 7 PM.
Now we are sitting at Red Ginger enjoying sushi and Thai curry.
We will be spending the next two nights at Park Shore Hotel with a lake view.
