You know you're in Hong Kong when...

Გამოქვეყნდა: 07.11.2018

...when everyone, men and women, wear sneakers and trainers.

...when you can already recognize that you're in the 'Fragrant Harbour' by the 'scent' of durian and chicken feet. Not for the faint-smelled!

...there's the best food at the Night Market in Temple Street.

...public transportation is surprisingly cheap for a megacity.

...you enjoy the light show at Victoria Harbour (with thousands of others) at 8 pm.

...spitting on the ground is fined up to HK$5000.

...you're in a shopping paradise because there's no value-added tax and you see more luxury shops than ever before in your life.

...the locals don't smile and often don't initially look friendly or happy.

...when you can get delicious dim sum everywhere.

...a tiny apartment costs more per month than your house or an apartment in Germany for the whole year.

...you're completely fascinated by the skyscrapers.

...you're so used to the traffic lights making sound when they turn green that you completely miss the green phase of a silent traffic light.

...you see cool red double-decker buses everywhere with the destination displayed in Cantonese and English.

...another day goes by without seeing the sky.

...you start paying for everything with the Octopus Card, the prepaid card for public transportation.

...you have to walk through one or more buildings to get to a park.

...taking a ride on the Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island is always a highlight.

...you have to haggle properly at the street markets to avoid being cheated.

...every tiny place, the smallest apartment, and tiny restaurant has air conditioning.

Can you think of anything else? Please add in the comments.

...wenn die Roboterstimme an der Rolltreppe dich darauf aufmerksam macht, dich festzuhalten, damit du nicht auf die Fresse fliegst.
