Today, we had to wake up at 3 because our shuttle to Indian Nose was at 4. 'Watching the sunrise part two' in the hope that this time we would actually see something :)
At quarter past 4, our driver arrived (it takes some getting used to that 4 doesn't really mean 4 ;D ). The drive took about 45 minutes and I was hoping to take a little nap. Unfortunately, the road made it impossible. Actually, you can't even call it a road because it consists more of potholes than anything else. 3 girls shaken but not stirred ;D We arrived safely and had to wait for our guide Donald for a little while because he had apparently overslept. As I said, punctuality is seen as quite flexible here ;)
Here we go: he was wearing nice silk pants, a leather jacket, and his fancy Samba slippers. I don't know if it's the typical mountain climber outfit or if he had a job interview afterwards :D
The hike took about 40/45 minutes and was quite steep in some parts. Unfortunately, my knees didn't cooperate as usual, so I couldn't make it all the way to the top. But that was fine because I had a lookout tower all to myself and could enjoy the sunrise in peace ;D
The others went a little further up and later told me that another group of chatty ladies followed. So, I did the right thing by staying on my tower ☆
Now I was sitting there, eagerly waiting for the sun to rise, and I must say it was simply beautiful. All the colors, the scenery, hearing everything slowly come alive... Just amazing, the pictures unfortunately can't capture it as well, so you definitely have to experience it yourself. On to Lake Atitlán!
