The Pacific Crest Trail begins in Campo at the Mexican border. It stretches for approximately 4265 kilometers through California, Oregon, and Washington all the way to Canada. However, I won't be able to cover that entire distance in three months. Nonetheless, I am excited to hike some sections here. The first two day hikes were quite challenging... I won't be able to travel as quickly as I did on the Camino de Santiago. The most precious resource here is drinking water. Sometimes, it is collected from small streams, filtered, and then carried in our backpacks. Due to the circumstances, there are few Europeans here this year. One person, who also entered through Mexico, tells me that the U.S. authorities almost didn't let him into the country. That makes us even more grateful that we made it here.
