Since my post about films set in Europe was so well-received, I decided to follow it up with a collection of the best travel movies you can stream online! Filmed in picturesque locations such as Prague, Venice, Berlin, London, and Washington, D.C., it's one of my favorite adventure movies to watch online.

Set during the reign of King Louis XIV of France, this film centers on the construction of the Gardens of Versailles. André Le Nôtre, tasked with overseeing the project, interviews a lone female gardener named Sabine de Barra. Despite her lower-class background, Sabine is chosen to design an outdoor ballroom, and her presence stirs both intrigue and challenges at court. As she navigates her outsider status, she befriends influential figures like the King’s brother, Duc Philippe d’Orleans, and his wife.

3. Julie and Julia

In this film, Julie Powell, stuck in a dead-end job in Manhattan, decides to cook every recipe in Julia Child’s famous cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking within a year, while blogging about her progress. The film also flashes back to the 1950s, where we see Julia Child's time in Paris as she learns French cooking at Le Cordon Bleu. While the characters themselves don't travel extensively, the film offers a delightful glimpse into 1950s Paris, making it a great travel-themed movie to stream.

4. In Search of Fellini

A sheltered young woman from Ohio, obsessed with movies but disillusioned with reality, discovers the surreal world of Federico Fellini's films. This sparks a journey that takes her across Italy in search of the legendary filmmaker, leading to an adventure filled with beauty and wonder.

5. Wild Oats

When a retired schoolteacher accidentally receives a $5 million check instead of the $50,000 payout on her deceased husband's life insurance, her recently single friend Maddie convinces her to keep it. The two then embark on a luxurious getaway to a resort in the Canary Islands.

6. One Day

Following Dexter Mayhew and Emma Morley, this film tracks their relationship over 18 years, checking in with them on the same date—July 15th—each year. After a platonic night together following their graduation from the University of Edinburgh, their friendship evolves over time, allowing us to witness the ups and downs of their intertwined lives.

7. The Other Boleyn Girl

This historical drama follows the lives of Mary and Anne Boleyn, as they compete for the affection of King Henry VIII. Mary, once his mistress, is eclipsed by Anne, who becomes his ill-fated second wife. It's a gripping fictionalized tale of love, power, and ambition.

In this epic adventure, a Viking princess must flee her kingdom after being framed for her father’s murder. With the guidance of the god Odin, she travels far and wide to gather support and reclaim her throne.

Set in 14th-century Scotland, this film follows Robert the Bruce as he leads a rebellion against the English army, eventually becoming an 'outlaw' as he fights to liberate his people. The story culminates in the Battle of Loudoun Hill in 1307.

In this biographical film, young Jane Austen’s family pressures her to marry a wealthy suitor, but Jane’s independence and desire for love drive her in a different direction. She forms a bond with Tom Lefroy, an apprentice lawyer who inspires her, providing the support she needs to pursue her career as a novelist.

A former musketeer, Athos, vows revenge against King Louis XIV after the death of his son. With the help of his old comrades, Athos plans to free a prisoner believed to be the King’s twin brother and place him on the throne. This historical action film is set in stunning locations, including the iconic Pierrefonds Castle.

Sam and Jared, two divers living in the Bahamas, take their friends on a treasure-hunting expedition. When they discover a wrecked plane filled with drugs alongside a famous shipwreck, things take a dangerous turn as they get entangled with drug dealers.

When he uncovers a clue linking the treasure to the Declaration of Independence, he must beat a rival treasure hunter in a race to secure the document.
