Sugar cone festival

Birt: 27.02.2024

Monday morning. The excitement is rising. Laura's first day as a teacher in the new school. A sleepless night thanks to the heat and tension.

We left together in a taxi at around 8:20 a.m. and, in keeping with our European upbringing, arrived on time.

Now Laura's everyday work begins, even if her first day consisted of organizing, getting a taste of the lessons, having lunch and putting together a timetable for the coming weeks. We saw each other again in the afternoon and she looked very happy. Apart from ethics and German, she can also support, shadow and certainly teach other subjects. There was great joy about art, French and there is also a board game club on Tuesday. So everything is according to your taste xD

However, I don't want to give too much away; she will definitely want to talk a little about her school experiences herself.

While Laura is now part of the working population, I still have that holiday feeling and explored the area where her school is located. One international school after another.

You notice that even in this big city, many people move between rich and poor. As I stood there, I was definitely in the rich part of Ho Chi Minh. It's all filled with hotels that have pools on the roofs, mega malls, restaurants that offer Vietnamese and international food for higher prices and a lot of expensive cars. I tried to find some kind of path that runs along the Saigon (Ho Chi Minh's Elbe), but after an hour of walking and repeatedly Googling, I gave up. In this district, luxury properties and tennis courts have the privilege of seeing Saigon.

However, a "Ca Phe da", which means iced coffee, made me happy again. A glass of cold coffee here costs around 15,000 Vietnamese dong, which is the equivalent of around 56 cents.

So, with that I end today's entry about yesterday xD

bye Bye

Chapeau!
