On the journey from Summerland, we had to take the ferry from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay. After the wilderness and country life, we stayed in Victoria on Vancouver Island from 31.08 - 02.09.16. The Laurel Inn is located right by the sea and harbor, and we could see the seaplanes landing and taking off. We took a little walk to the opposite side to explore the downtown area. We were looking for a restaurant to have a drink. We also had a drink at the hotel bar, where we learned about the Liqueur Tax. When we entered the room, Andy heard a noise and said, I can't sleep here. So I went to the lobby to report it. In the process, I got lost in the hotel, ended up on the promenade, and couldn't get back through the door. I had to walk around the hotel in the dark to the main entrance. We got a different room, but the view was gone.
The next day was rainy, and we decided to take the hop-on-hop-off bus to see a lot of Victoria. (By the way: without a top). We visited the Parliament Building and the Fairmont Empress Hotel from the inside. Both buildings are very impressive. The Fairmont Empress Hotel was built in 1904 and has 460 rooms. The Parliament House looks like our government building in Bern.
Andy wanted to go to the Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. But in my opinion, it's not like it was almost 30 years ago anymore.
