Drum roll... our first day in Costa Rica with sunshine and no rain! Although it was a long day of travel, we enjoyed the beautiful view from the car window. After exchanging the rental car for a somewhat smaller car, we drove southwest to Uvita. Here we had booked a cool hostel that had no windows or ceilings and was on a hill just outside of town. As a result, it was pleasantly ventilated and you were very close to nature. In addition, you had a brilliant view of the jungle all around.

The next morning we started the day with a delicious homemade breakfast. The weather was kind to us again and the sun sizzled from the sky. We hiked through a beautiful bamboo forest to a hidden river where you could swim, which was a nice refreshment in the muggy temperatures. We got the tip that you can walk further through the river to a waterfall. Together with Laura from Scotland, whom we had got to know, we set off. After a short stretch over rocks and through the river, we arrived at the great waterfall and it was really super beautiful! After splashing around a bit, we scrambled back and walked back to the hostel. From there we drove into the city to have something to eat and then went to the national park “Marino ballena”. This includes a beautiful, eternally long beach that looks like a whale's tail at low tide and the palm forest behind it. You can also occasionally spot whales and dolphins from here. While we were walking there, a race was taking place at the same time. We watched the hustle and bustle from the water and later relaxed on the sand. The beach was really great, the palm trees in the background looked like a painting. But the real highlight came with the sunset. Although it was cloudy, the sky turned a gorgeous shade of pink and orange. That was really beautiful!

Uvita was only planned as a stopover, but we definitely could have stayed longer here - especially with the sunny weather. So the following day we packed our things again, enjoyed the beautiful view from the terrace one last time and then made our way to Drake Bay on the Osa Peninsula. A very special place awaits us here, the Corcovado National Park!
