An Afternoon in Bucharest

Naipablaak: 27.09.2017

...And off we went across Romania, with our constant goal: the Black Sea. Since we were passing by Bucharest anyway, we thought we could take a look at it... We were told several times that Bucharest is not really beautiful, but a friend of mine (Anne) said that you can still visit it for 1-2 days. So we spent an afternoon in Romania's capital with a long city walk, which took us past the Palace of the Parliament, among other places. This building, which stands in the otherwise rather poor Bucharest, is sheer megalomania. Built from 1983 to 1989 by President Nicolae Ceausescu, it is now the second largest administrative building in the world (after the Pentagon). 86m high, 275m long and 235m wide, with 5100 rooms and over 1,000,000 m² of marble from Transylvania... incomprehensible. And in the country, especially back then, there were so many corners and edges lacking?!

In addition, we also discovered many other beautiful things and buildings, such as the Stavropoleos Church, which has a very romantic little courtyard. And the rest: you can see it best for yourselves in the photos. :)

PS: If it should have been disturbing to you when looking at the photos: my (FloH) camera has dust particles in the lens, which is why unfortunately there is a shadow seahorse on many pictures. I am of course very pleased about constructive feedback.
