Day 2: Blue Lagoon

Naipablaak: 27.07.2023

Today, the Blue Lagoon was on my list. But before we went, I had a chocolate croissant for breakfast. Then I sat down on the promenade overlooking the sea.

At 11 o'clock, we took the bus. After a 45-minute drive, the bus arrived at the parking lot from where you had to walk a few minutes to a small stone gorge made of lava rocks. From the outside, you could already see the white-turquoise water. Once inside, it took me a while to figure out where the showers, changing rooms, and such were.

Then we went into the water at around half past twelve. The Blue Lagoon is much bigger than I had thought. On one side, there was a bar where you could buy drinks, and on the other side, they handed out face masks. There was also a small waterfall where you could stand under. It's really crazy how warm the water was there. In some places, it was even so hot that I swam a big circle around it. Although you could hardly really swim. On the one hand, the water was only chest-high, and on the other hand, it was too warm. Anything deeper than five centimeters was practically invisible.

All in all, it was really relaxing and it wasn't crowded either - there were already a lot of people, but sometimes you had a corner to yourself.

All day long, I had the feeling that I had forgotten something. Two things came to mind when I was leaving. On the one hand, my brush - on the bus ride back, I looked like a mop - and on the other hand, the sunscreen. On a sunny day, when I was in the water for almost four hours, that might have been useful. As a result, my shoulders and my face now look like it too.

On the way back, I could barely keep my eyes open. The swimming really exhausted me. But it was definitely worth it. It was fun and now I'm as relaxed as I haven't been in a long time.

In the end, I met another girl from my room. She is also from Germany and we chatted for a while. She invited me to cook together tomorrow. I didn't really talk to the others in my room (who arrived last night) - it just didn't happen.

See you later
