We have now spent 4 nights on the island of Barra. Actually a nice place with various beaches, small mountains, and delicious cafes. Unfortunately, what was missing was the sun. Mostly strong winds and fog make it quite cool and cause the mattress in the roof tent to get wetter. Especially when it is still folded up during the day so that the car can be used.
In the evenings, we have already brought the mattress and especially the sheet into the car to dry them there. So now we are no longer cooling but heating.
I also had to take a little bike ride yesterday. The brake discs were already rusty, so that couldn't stay that way...
Today, getting up at 7 o'clock was on the agenda to catch the ferry to the next islands. Finally, there was no wind and the sun came out. After the crossing, we took the opportunity to have a breakfast break on Eriskay. The roof tent was also allowed to release some moisture. Since we should only arrive at 2 p.m., we were not in a hurry.
On the narrow single-lane roads here, it is very worthwhile to follow someone. This way, you have more advance warning time before the constant crests and don't have to brake so hard when oncoming traffic comes.
When we arrived at the campsite, the weather soon normalized again. A mighty fog wall approached and now it is back to the way it was the last few days. Brave as we are, we have set up the awning again. It is already fluttering vigorously in the wind. But it was definitely a wrong purchase for this area.
