Ollantaytambo

Ebipụtara: 18.02.2020

The western end of the Sacred Valley is bounded by the town of Ollantaytambo, which is named after the Inca fortress of the same name. From this strategically advantageous location, the Incas were able to monitor access to the Urubamba Valley. Here, once again, we are fascinated by the evidence of the advanced Inca culture of that time. Today, Ollantaytambo is not only a tourist attraction but also an important transportation hub. We will also start our train journey to Machu Picchu from here, as the route from Cuzco through the Urubamba Valley is closed during the rainy season.
