My name is Steffi and I'm starting a new travel blog :). I discovered traveling for myself about 3 years ago. A big inspiration was and still is my friend Karsten. It was through him that I got a taste for traveling. We have been together for almost 4 years now and before that, I only went on vacation with my parents at the North Sea :D. Which, of course, was not very exciting haha. Karsten, on the other hand, had already been to the Caribbean and Indonesia with his parents, for example. For me, long-distance and general traveling were never of great importance before. I didn't know any different. In 2014, I flew with him to Mallorca & Ibiza for the first time. Of course, it was an absolute highlight for me back then :D. If you compare this to the North Sea hihi. We made our first joint long-distance trip in June 2015: SRI LANKA!!! I was very afraid of my first long-haul flight. We flew from Düsseldorf to Abu Dhabi and from there to Colombo back then. I imagined the flight to be much worse. Of course, it wasn't bad at all, everything went well. After Sri Lanka, it was clear to me: I want to see more of the world!
We bought a scratch-off world map, on which you can "scratch off" the countries you have already been to. It must get more colorful over the years :D.
For the year 2016, we had something very special planned. A 4-week backpacking trip through COSTA RICA. In that year, I read so much about long-distance travel and backpacking, and it became clear to me, or rather to us (hihi): We want to do that too! We bought a travel guide by Stefan Loose, which I can highly recommend. Very detailed description. I also felt like I was on every travel platform on the internet that had information about Costa Rica.
In the same year, we were in THAILAND in November, again only with our backpacks. By the way, I got my diving license in Thailand. My friend is an experienced diver and I have to keep up with him, of course :D.
This year, at the end of June, we are going to INDONESIA. We have chosen the island of SULAWESI. I am very excited and will report :).
