Day 26. The Dr. and the dear cattle

Հրատարակվել է: 26.06.2017

Hello all,

Today's stage takes us from Hudiksvall to Ratan.

As we get closer to the Finnish border, it's about time to look for a veterinarian. Finns and Norwegians require that a dog has received a deworming treatment against fox tapeworms before entering their country. The treatment must be administered by a veterinarian and recorded with the date and time in the pet passport. Between the administration of the treatment and entry into the country, there must be a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of 120 hours.👎🏻 Fortunately, our research has shown that we don't have to go through this whole procedure again in Finland.

Because Finland puts so much effort into combating parasites😷, they are part of an elite group of 5 countries where Norwegians are exempt from this procedure.👍

And since we are traveling from Finland to Norway, it should work out fine. Just to be safe, we have copied the text from the Norwegian Food Authority. We quickly find a veterinarian, and for the first time in Scandinavia, we meet someone with poor English skills. Nevertheless, the veterinary assistant is very helpful and decides to involve the veterinarian due to the language barrier.

With the veterinarian, it is quickly clarified what we need, and he is already familiar with this issue, so no further explanation is needed. Then everything happens very quickly. It's 3 tablets, and the dog's mouth is opened with the delicacy of a bulldozer, and the entire, yes, the entire hand of the veterinarian disappears into Nala's throat 😱! Before Nala understands what is happening, it's all over. So that's done!

Now we just need to buy a few things, and it's already 11:00 am when we leave.

During the lunch break at Högakustenbron, we enjoy the view and have some hot dogs 🌭.

The drive is pleasantly quiet. The children 👶 watch a movie on the tablet and then take a nap 😴.

In Ratan, we are greeted by the most beautiful parking spot of our trip so far, right on the coast with an island in front. 🌴

The parking spot has an electrical connection and a free washing machine and dryer.

Tascha immediately takes advantage of it to do our laundry.

Admittedly, the spot costs €15, but it is definitely worth it.

Lotte and I try our luck fishing 🎣, but we give up due to lack of success.

Now it's time for dinner and to try to get the children to bed.

And to explain to Lotte again that her argument "it's still light outside" doesn't count!

Meanwhile, it doesn't even get dark anymore. It starts to get dim around 2:00 am and then gets bright again around 3:20 am.

The last load of laundry is done by 1:00 am.

And so the day is already over!

So then,

see you tomorrow.........
