After a nice beach walk at Palm Cove Beach, Mr. Scarface was waiting for us under the mangroves. There he was, with his 3 meters, his proud 500KG, and his three remaining teeth. At 70 years old, Mr. Scarface is quite an old fellow and the boss in his territory. With 5 women by his side, he has a lot to do and therefore needs to rest on land, once again....In general, crocodiles don't do much during the day. They only awaken from their sleep and go hunting in the evening. Yes, folks, we saw crocodiles today! We went with a boat into the crocodile's lair. The boat was solar-powered and therefore very quiet to disturb the animals as little as possible. We were lucky because our boat was guided by David. David is probably the boss among crocodile experts. Plus, he has eyes like an eagle. So he sees everything. Whether it's a crocodile, a tree snake, or a kingfisher. He has been observing the animals for 26 years and inspires several people every day on a boat trip through the untouched territory of the crocodiles. The animals are neither fed nor disturbed. His dog 'Doggy' is always by his side.

Warm, dirty saltwater. That's where saltwater crocodiles feel at home. Did you know that crocodiles can stay underwater for over 7 hours? I think I already mentioned that they can grow up to 7 meters long. So Mr. Scarface is the king in his pack or whatever you call it. He has earned that with his size and weight. It's fascinating how big these animals can get. But do you know what's even more fascinating? It's how slowly they grow. We saw 2 crocodiles that were only 1 year old. And I can only say that I have already seen bigger lizards here in Australia. They were really tiny! When you then see Mr. Scarface in comparison, you can hardly believe it. No way can such a tiny creature turn into such a huge being. But it does. Fascinating! In any case, we were able to see a lady from Scarface as well. The females are significantly smaller than the males. It's just cool what animals we have already seen, right? And all in the wild. I think it's great. Oh, by the way, the tour took place in the oldest rainforest in the world. The so-called Daintree National Park.
Do you know those perfect days in life? As if we didn't already have such a beautiful day, life adds even more. As a grand finale, a nearly empty campsite with a great barbecue area awaits, where it felt like home, and a swim in the pool under the starry sky. Then it was off to the cozy rooftop tent. By the way, I sleep like a baby in it. Is it because of the rooftop tent? Or maybe because of this amazing journey?
Cheers!
