The next day we drove to Homer, the southernmost point of the Kenai Peninsula. Just before Homer, we reached the westernmost point accessible by the American road network. When we arrived in Homer, it was bustling with tourists and the three of us didn't feel very comfortable here. We did some quick shopping, looked around a bit, and quickly decided to leave. Since we really liked the overnight spot by the sea from yesterday, we decided to drive back there and spend the rest of the evening there. My parents had bought a cast iron pot in Anchorage, with which we successfully baked a fresh bread over the campfire in the evening. Mmm, it was delicious, the first "real" bread in ages. After dinner, a Swiss motorhome arrived at the parking lot and (as always) we started talking to the two Swiss people (Yves and Ivone). We got along great and decided to spend the next two days together searching for bears. But they shouldn't just be any bears, they should be salmon-eating bears...
