28.-31-08.16: The last days in Japan

Հրատարակվել է: 03.09.2016

From Nagasaki, I rode the Shinkansen through Japan to Tokyo, the final stop of my journey, covering a distance of 1200 km in 8 hours.

The next day, I met up with my old school friend Silke in Tokyo. We explored the city, had delicious sushi, and she showed me the Tokyo Tower and two temples. We even had a picnic on the terrace of one of the temples.

On the following day, I took it easy and prepared for my departure. I met some nice people at the hostel, watched some Japanese TV (there was another typhoon), and took a short walk to the Great Ninja Center, where I found a very small and meaningless (but free) Ninja museum.

In the evening of the next day, I had my flight. Since I had some time to kill, I visited the Tokyo Edo Museum, which showcases the history of Edo (later Tokyo) and exhibits from all time periods. The exhibition hall, with its fascinating architecture, even had replicas of a bridge, a neighborhood, and a theater.

In the evening, I went to the airport and flew overnight, crossing the Pacific to Australia in just under 7.5 hours.
