After a wonderful meal on the terrace of an equally beautiful restaurant in this complex, we spent the night in our luxury room.
During the night, a luxury monsoon rain fell.
It is important to both of us to clarify some things: It is wonderful to have the opportunity to experience such a resort, but please do not think that we intend to travel like this in the future; truly not. We both do not like this widespread pursuit of the ultimate hotel or restaurant and we have just as much fun staying and dining in much simpler places. I am thinking of the very nice meal in a simple restaurant in Hue that we enjoyed just as much as last night's meal. This is not a plea for hostels or youth hostels, as we are simply too old for them, but there are worlds between that and this, and they can all be very nice; what is most important to us is that we can experience it together. We also never forget that average people here in Vietnam earn less in a month than one day in a resort like this costs.
Back to the report: We will be picked up earlier than usual and driven to Hoi An, first to the market and then to the old town. This is also a world heritage site and rightly so. We visit the oldest house in the old town, which belongs to a Chinese family but no longer lives in Hue. Then one of the oldest houses in Vietnam in the former Japanese part of Hoi An. Then the Japanese bridge, which separates the Chinese-Vietnamese part of Hoi An from the former Japanese part.
You will see from the pictures that the rain accompanies us the whole time, but at least it is warm.
The conclusion of our visit to Hoi An is a visit to a silk company, where we get to know the production process from the caterpillar to the finished product, very exciting.
Back to the hotel and free time.
