It's summer in Helsinki with temperatures up to 30 degrees. Like many residents of the Finnish capital, we take this opportunity to take a boat trip to the nearby island of Suomenlinna. There is a bastion fortress with an irregular layout, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1991 due to its special military architecture. Of particular historical significance for the fortress is the fact that it served as a defense facility for three states: Sweden, Russia, and Finland.
After our return, we cycle along the coast and discover how young and vibrant this city is.
We visit an impressive concert by the SibA Folk Big Band at the Helsinki Music Center. The captivating folk music of Finland and a delicious dinner make for a wonderful conclusion to our tour of Finland.
On Sunday, we take a trip to the Olympic Stadium and Kiasma, the Museum of Contemporary Art. In the afternoon, we take a ferry to Tallinn.
