After a cozy breakfast without Jude, who had gotten up early again to organize something, we started to pack more donations. Around noon we set off and bought a handbag in Jinja for Rose, who cooked so deliciously for us. At Caesar's we were to meet some seniors, widows, and single parents. All of them are people who are struggling and will continue to struggle, as the harvests have been poor. We thought about how we could support them. Together with Jude, we decided to buy 10kg of cornmeal, soap, and sugar. A package for each one.
Upon arriving at Jude and Caesar's, everyone was already sitting under the mango tree in beautiful colorful dresses. When they saw us, they sang and clapped. A wonderful reception and radiant faces. Jude explained who we are and what each person should receive. He had selected the families that should receive something. Everything was distributed, and it was great to see how thankful the people are. A wonderful feeling.
Afterward, there was another great meal for us. Before heading back, we visited a family deep in the countryside. It's amazing how far it stretches and how isolated families live here. A school would be really helpful. The children's mother has a mental illness, and the father does not take care of the two children. About a month ago, a third child with a disability passed away. Their grave was on the property, which is not uncommon here. We also brought them sugar, cornmeal, and soap. It's great that Jude takes care of them and even pays for a nanny.
In the evening, we also looked at the dam and kingfishers while on a walk. To strengthen ourselves, we also grilled a little bit.
