When we arrived in Cebu, Philippines, my beginning travel fatigue, which had set in a little since Singapore, was blown away! From now on, it became exciting again: we traveled around by bus, scooter, motorcycle, or 'tricycle' and explored an area that was completely new to me since I had never been to Southeast Asia before; I was full of energy and enthusiasm again! We started from Cebu to Tan-Awan, where whale sharks abound. The huge animals can grow up to 9 meters long and feed exclusively on vegetation, which is why it is possible to dive with them. For this, we got up at 4:30 in the morning and jumped into the sea with the whale sharks from 6 o'clock - I really find it difficult to describe how it felt when the 8 to 9 meters long fish came towards me with its mouth wide open and even brushed me with its tail fin as it swam past me... "Incredible" would probably be the word that best describes it!
After we had to get out of the water again to make room for the next tourist, it was only 7 o'clock in the morning and since we were completely excited, we immediately set off for the next adrenaline rush: we drove around half the island to go canyoning in the Matutinao River. There's nothing better in this heat: we spent two hours climbing around in a cool gorge, jumping down waterfalls into the water, and sliding down rocks. After the huge fun, it was still so early that we explored another waterfall, the Inambaka waterfall, on our own. This one rushes down the mountain in four stages and on each stage, there is a turquoise shimmering, cold pool where we could swim. Even I can withstand the heat here well!
