The Dogobert weekend

As real Berliners, we have to accuse:

Everything is getting more expensive!

Who is to blame? Obviously, the 'Rollkoffer', that is tourists and politics commuters. And of course the 50,000 people who move here every year. So what do we do when the price level is approaching that of the so-called western metropolises at a breathtaking speed?

A good idea is to constantly have one of the many radio programs of RBB running and not lose sight of the phone. Riddle questions are asked or prices are simply raffled off every hour, almost always tickets for the many events in Berlin.

For a place on the guest list at the 'Schöne Party' by radioeins (only for adults), the title melody of 'Mission Impossible' has to be sung live. 'Da dada da dadad.....' and Saturday evening we go to Mitte to the Kalkscheune. At first, we are alone with some peers in the expansive area who apparently can sing well too. But after two hours the place is full and the average age is under 30.

At 11:30 pm we are already soaked three times and our little legs hurt. It's good that a reading with Sebastian Lehmann is scheduled now. He has a permanent place in the Berlin scene and on the radio we always wait for his latest text in which his mother from Freiburg calls. Afterwards, we are no longer able to resume dancing. Sebastian Lehmann also seems tired or he is not a partygoer. He takes the subway with us to Kreuzberg.

On Sunday we go to the next radioeins event. At Tipi at the Chancellery, there is a talk show with the capital commentators at noon. We just had to call quickly for that. Florian Schröder performs between the discussion blocks.

There is food at Tipi, of course too expensive for freeloaders. But from watching and smelling, we are very hungry. So off to Alexanderplatz. We take the line 100, the inexpensive city sightseeing tour.

There are delicious hamburgers. But we only pay for one because, as newcomers, we naturally subscribed to a daily newspaper. Quality and presentation were decisive. The free months and Rossmann vouchers were also included in the BZ. The Berlin-Card with 200 two-for-one offers is a product that we would never buy, but the hamburgers...

Membership in a political party is also helpful when booking low-cost events. There are many events here and obviously it is not quite easy to fill the seats from row 3 onwards. Since Jürgen registered with the SPD Berlin, he not only receives the usual invitations to local association meetings or to distributing leaflets.

For example, on Sunday evening, the anniversary of Regine Hildebrand's death, the SPD awards the prize named after her for the 17th time. We are even reprimanded because we have not yet registered.

This is incomprehensible because the two hours in the Willy Brandt House are very nice, simply touching. We realize that this great woman has been dead for 17 years and how much someone like her is missed today. It's a shame that there is clearly an East German bias that evening. The only West German speaker, Martin Schulz, cancels due to illness. Instead, there is a reunion with Wolfgang Tiefensee. What is he actually doing these days?
