Friday, 10.01.20, Day 54

Lake Maraetai, Mangakino

In the morning, Arnd rents a bike and takes a ride along the Waikato River. Then we drive to Taupo and buy coolant for our Zuhlo at Repco. Since we all feel like having a real ice cream sundae, we go to a small ice cream shop right by the lake and enjoy a big delicious strawberry sundae. Before the sailing tour in the evening, we go back to the river to get ready and Arnd gets a haircut. At 6:30 p.m., the sailing tour on Lake Taupo starts (THANK YOU!). This lake is the size of Singapore. A cozy and older sailboat with seat cushions and a very friendly captain is waiting for us. We enjoy the trip to the Maori Rock Carvings with fresh pizza, wine, and beer. After the sun sets, we sail back to the harbor and happily drive to the campsite around 9:30 p.m. We end the evening with a portion of pasta in bed and Dirty Dancing.
