This week was eventful again.

On Monday, I left the coast for the first time to go hiking in a nearby mountain. The hike itself was nothing special, but the view was beautiful, stretching all the way to the Sinis Peninsula where I had been shortly before.

After a peaceful night, I returned to the coast, to the beach of Portu Maga. I made a stop in Oristano to explore the town. In Portu Maga, I coincidentally met Andreas and Maja again. Since the next day had the best weather in a long time, we spent a relaxed day at the beach together. I even went swimming in the sea for 30 seconds. It's still too cold to swim without a wetsuit for a longer period.

In the evening, I randomly started a conversation with a couple with license plates from Frankfurt. After they quickly recognized my Swabian dialect, I found out that the man had worked in Leinfelden-Echterdingen for a long time. Both of them have lived, worked, and traveled all over the world. We ended up talking for 4 hours. It was only when I was in bed that I realized we hadn't even introduced ourselves by name. It was a nice encounter that once again showed me that this is what traveling is all about.

Here on the beach of Portu Maga, I also witnessed the first beautiful sunset in Sardinia.

The next day, I went to the beach of Masua. The winding coastal road was quite challenging. Luckily, after 4 months, roads like these don't make me sweat anymore :-) The view was truly stunning, and at some points, I was driving only 20 km/h to enjoy the view. Sometimes, all you could see beneath you was the sea. It can be a bit nerve-wracking. Fortunately, there isn't much traffic here, so I mostly drove in the middle of the road, which is often the only option on these narrow roads.

I really liked the beach of Masua. During a walk, I met an Italian who told me that there were 2 dolphins in the bay. Unfortunately, I didn't see them. The day ended with a beautiful sunset.

The weather got worse and the wind picked up. It became so windy that it was difficult to go outside, and driving became challenging because the motorhome was getting pushed around. It also made finding a parking spot harder because the wind made the motorhome sway. So, after spending one night in Porto Pino, I arrived at the beach of Chia 'Sa Colonia'. Andreas and Maja are waiting here for good surfing conditions. Let's see if it happens today.

I had another nice encounter in Porto Pino. After being notified that my brake fluid was running low, I went to the nearest workshop. I had already prepared on my phone what I needed in the translator app. After saying hello to the owner, I showed him my phone. He responded in perfect German, saying 'Just a moment, we have that.' I was naturally surprised and delighted to be able to converse in German. We went outside to the motorhome, and he said, 'License plate WN, are you from Waiblingen?' I used to live in Stetten for 15 years.' We were both quite surprised and happy to see someone from 'home.' After 2 sentences, his Swabian dialect came back, and we had a brief conversation. He told me that he lived in Stetten until he was 30 years old and has been back in Sardinia for 45 years, where he now has the workshop.

The world can sometimes be so small :-)
