Christmas & New Year's Eve | Week 13 | 12/25 - 12/31/23

On Christmas Day I had another barbecue on the beach with my friends and celebrated the “real” Christmas in Australia, because it is only celebrated on December 25th.

On December 26th, also known as Boxing Day because the department stores offer discounts on almost everything, Maxim and Janik left again. I spent the day on the beach with Lena and Elliott.

On Thursday I headed to Springbrook National Park with Hannah (roommate) and Elliott and Lena. This is approximately 1 hour drive inland. Here we went on a short hike, most of which ran through the forest. Somehow the landscape reminded me a bit of the Bad Urach waterfalls. We passed 2 waterfalls and made a quick stop to swim. The water was very refreshing. By the way, at 35 degrees, the day was the hottest day since I've been in Australia.

I spent the last 2 days of the year surfing, beach volleyball and going to the beach.

On New Year's Eve, Lena, Elliott and I headed to Brisbane. We spent the whole evening in a beer garden by the river and watched the fireworks from there. Later we went to a few bars.
