Today is December 24th, and the day doesn't start out so well for Maren. We open the trunk lid and are happy about the beautiful view as many pesky little mosquitoes buzz into the bus. Somehow they only affect Maren and the poor thing becomes very desperate and angry. This ends in a really bad mood. After a very delicious Christmas breakfast, we decide to go into town again. Over the last few weeks we've been looking at fly screens and alternatives, but nothing has ever completely convinced us. Just once, we thought we had finally found the right one. When we unpacked it, we discovered that it was a very strange plastic film with a double-sided adhesive tape that was used for no idea what. However, after this morning, a solution needs to be found very quickly. We find a net at the hardware store and hope that it will hold with the old adhesive tape. In the supermarket, we pick up some black duct tape and buy ourselves a Sudoku book as a Christmas present to ourselves. We take a detour and drive to the lighthouse, from where you can take a hike to a seal colony. At the parking lot we think we want to use the break in the rain sensibly. This is how we make our fly screens and are actually satisfied, for starters. We don't feel like hiking anymore and so we just take the bus the route to the seals. We only have to walk a few minutes from the parking lot. At the lookout point I only spot a seal that Maren doesn't see at first. It takes a short time until we discover more and more seals and lots of babies between the rocks. All the morning hustle and bustle is forgotten. The most exciting thing now is a baby seal that repeatedly slipped into a crevice in the rock and was luckily saved by its mother each time. I've actually already thought about the best way to get this out of there. Back at the campsite, it's time to start cooking. There is our traditional bruschetta with goat cheese and caramelized pears and a vegetable curry pot. Not very photogenic, but incredibly tasty. Although our bruschetta can't keep up with the one from the Christmas before last. This is followed by a game evening and a whole day of gaming on the campsite. We make phone calls, update our diaries and blogs. We inaugurate the Sudoku booklet and are a little annoyed that it doesn't rain as promised, but instead it's way too warm for us and the sun is blinding. Luxury problems.
