This is our first blog entry. So far, we felt like nothing exciting has happened yet to write about. However, we decided to write anyway, especially for concerned family members.
The approximately 25-hour journey (Bern, Milan, Muscat (Oman), Bangkok) was quite exhausting towards the end, but otherwise everything went more or less smoothly. The time difference combined with sleep deprivation is still giving us some trouble - but fortunately, no casualties so far (thanks to melatonin). We have been staying at the Prince Palace Hotel for two days now, with a pool on the 11th floor and a beautiful view of the gigantic city. Most of the guests here are Asians and there are a lot of employees (someone is always standing at each door and opening it for you).
Next to the hotel, there is a shopping mall, which is a HUGE area spread over 6 floors with hundreds of 'shops' that look like garages but are actually just clothing stores. Here, clothes can be purchased in bulk and at a very reasonable price. And... they sell everything, from T-shirts for Czech 'weapons clubs' to American police watch jackets - whatever is produced, will be sold. Although the opening hours are until 6:00 p.m., most of the sellers didn't feel like working anymore by 4:00 p.m. and started packing up. So we went to the hotel bar. :)
