Penghu Islands (Part 2/3)

Közzétett: 02.11.2017

We departed by ship towards Qimei, a smaller island that is about two hours away from the main islands, at 9:30 am. This time, we managed to survive the journey without any major seasickness around us ;)
Upon arrival, the hotel informed us to meet directly at the 7eleven (a small supermarket) near the harbor. Surprised by this meeting point, we asked at the 7eleven for more information. It turned out that the backdoor of the supermarket leads to the hotel and the cash register serves as the reception. So, we practically stayed in a 7eleven ;) The hotel also rented us a scooter, which we immediately took to explore the island. It was beautiful: incredible rock formations, water in various shades of blue, and hardly any tourists. The island felt almost a bit deserted. The high season was clearly over, although the weather was still very good. One of the pictures shows 'little Taiwan,' a rock plate in the water in the shape of the main island of Taiwan. Along our way, we also came across entire herds of goats. Another highlight for me were the two stone hearts that are supposed to make fishing easier. I had seen these two stone hearts on advertising posters and really wanted to see them with my own eyes.
Before the sun set, we searched for a suitable place to go snorkeling. We tried our luck in a small bay that was somewhat protected. However, the water was still quite rough, and for safety reasons, we did not venture further out. We were able to see a few species of fish and were satisfied for the time being. In the evening, we wanted to go out for a cozy dinner, but there was no restaurant in sight. So, we once again got our food from the local supermarket ;) Afterwards, we found a nice spot overlooking the ocean and enjoyed the mild autumn evening with a beer.

We used the next morning for another small snorkeling trip, as our ship would only depart at 1:30 pm. This time, we found a perfectly protected little bay that offered a variety of fish and coral species. Afterward, we lounged in the sun for a while and finally made our way back to the main islands, where we had booked another night.
