On the way to Öland, we drove along the coast to Kalmar. Along the way, we passed an old trading post in Pataholm. This used to be the smallest village in Sweden with only 7 houses.
In Kalmar, we wanted to stay overnight. However, the approach turned out to be somewhat more problematic than expected. Because it was IRONMAN. The triathlon consists of a 3800m swim, 180km bike ride, and 42.5km run. We had to wait for about 3 hours before we could reach the parking space.
The next day, we went to Öland. After a day of rest, we drove along the old coastal road from Äleklinta to Sandvik. We already knew this road and it impressed us again. When we arrived at the top of Byxelkrok, we found a great parking space. And from there, we went to Trollskogen the following day.
'Peace and tranquility. As soon as I enter Trollskogen from the parking lot, the everyday noise is turned off. Instead, I am surrounded by the roar of the sea, which permeates through the pine forest... I continue hiking and come across mighty gnarled oaks... and wind-whipped pines. Where the forest becomes less dense, the wind sweeps through the grass between the sand and boulders. Everything is perfect here on the beach.' Unknown author
