Today it is slightly cooler outside, 21 degrees and a bit humid. Occasional showers. We head into the city, starting with Karangahape Road where we enjoy our first espresso in New Zealand while Malte sleeps in the car. We stroll a bit on this shopping street, briefly pass by the old cemetery and continue to Victoria Market - a small mall with a loft character. A group sings songs from Samoa, great atmosphere. We eat at an Indonesian restaurant and continue to the harbor. It's raining heavily by now. We stroll from the harbor to Queens Street despite the rain. Similar to us: lots of well-known shops. In an electronics store, I buy a prepaid SIM card from 2degrees for my phone. I try a Nespresso at the Nespresso store and then we continue to Parnell (a trendy neighborhood with art and culture).
Today we definitely want to go to the beach. Not far from our accommodation is Blockhouse Bay. We drive almost to the sea and discover a beautiful beach area with a playground, barbecue area (with an electric grill that gets hot at the push of a button - free!!!), a shower, tables, benches and a bathing beach. Everything is well maintained and clean, free of charge. We meet other tourists from Hungary and Austria at this beach.
We like it so much that we want to come back for a barbecue tomorrow.
