Change of plans - who would have thought đŸ€·â€â™€ïž

Közzétett: 05.03.2018

Lea and my plan was originally to hitchhike to Christchurch yesterday. However, since we had already paid for an extra day at the hostel in Blenheim and we weren't ready to leave yet, we decided to go today instead.

After having our last pajama party and even getting breakfast in bed today, we finally set off.

After saying goodbye to the others, including our lovely hostel owner Alice (who is highly regarded), we were then taken to a busier road by Mauro.

Since we were already running late, we were picked up by Marco, an older man, after waiting for 25 minutes, which is a really long time for hitchhiking in NZ.

He gave us a ride for a while and then dropped us off in Seddon. Once we arrived there, we used our hitchhiking sign (a pizza box) again, and after another half an hour and our lunch, we were picked up by a nice couple in a camper. On the way, which ran along the beach, we also saw some seals.

btw - You are often reminded to drive on the left side of the road by arrows on the road or by the "keep left" signs.

Arriving in Kaikoura, we then threw our plan out the window (who would have thought đŸ’â€â™€ïž) and decided to find a hostel and hitchhike to Christchurch tomorrow instead.

The reason for the change of plans was our tiredness, the fact that the highway closes at 8, and that hitchhiking in the evening is not as safe.

So now we are in a hostel where we luckily got a bed spontaneously, and we will continue hitchhiking tomorrow morning. It's really great to have some Swabians around me here in the hostel, and I almost feel at home...but only almost.

In this sense...

Life always goes on, and if things don't go well, at least there's something to complain about!

Take care

Your Miri
