The kindness of the Japanese in the countryside

Közzétett: 15.10.2018

Today I took the regular train from Kyoto to ....

Yes, actually I wanted to go to Amanohashidate, but it didn't quite go as planned.

Everything was wonderful in Kyoto. Early at the train station. Bought a drink and Ekiben. Found the platform perfectly. Waited at the right car.

The selection of Bento boxes for the picnic on the train is huge.

My choice: Gyudon (sliced beef on rice) on the right and confectionery from the pastry shop, so beautifully packaged on the left.

As soon as the Japanese person sits in the Shinkansen or long-distance train, they unpack and eat. NEVER in the subway and local trains!!!!

Before you can get on, the cars are cleaned...
and all the seats are turned in the direction of travel.

When the train arrived at its final destination, it turned out that it didn't go where I wanted to go and as it also said on the board in Kyoto - to AMANOHASHIDATE.

When the conductor noticed my problem, he gestured to me that I had to get off and transfer quickly and at the last moment, he dispatched me to the first car of a local train on the opposite side of the platform. I had to go back one stop and then transfer. He quickly explained the problem to the train driver as well.
When we arrived at the next station, the train driver got out specially, grabbed my super heavy suitcase, drove it all the way to the end of the platform and carried it up the long steep stairs. When we reached the top, he handed it to another employee, who had to carry it down to the other platform to the right train. I thanked him profusely in English and Japanese, of course.
Twenty minutes later, a train arrived that took me to another world...
The train consisted of a motor car with great plush seats and was called TANGO

All passengers were elderly Japanese...

and at the second stop, a group of retirees going to the sea filled the train.

At every station, he had to wait for the opposing train.

And finally, there it was, the sea.... View from the train

After 40 minutes on the Tango train, I arrived in Amanohashidate.
