Good morning, Africa!!
This morning we wake up with a little sigh, as the thought of our farewell to sunny South Africa and the return to cold, wet Germany hangs like a shadow over us.
But first, let's enjoy breakfast. After my bland diet yesterday, my stomach is back in good spirits – hurray!
Then it's time to pack our bags and lug the luggage into the car. Each of us feels a bit melancholic and would prefer not to leave just yet. We still have plenty of time! We only need to return the rental car by 4:00 PM.
We take a little drive through Paternoster, stroll to the waterfront and postpone the farewell a little longer.
Here there is a crazy VW Beetle collector – I can hardly believe how many models he has collected.
As we still have time, we decide not to take the direct route but to cruise along the shore as much as possible.
You don't see much along the way. But what could be better than singing a song together? And soon we are four singing “Die Arbeiter der Liebe” – our farewell blues suddenly becomes much more bearable! Thank you, Christian!
We make a stop in Langebaan.
Langebaan – the jewel of the West Coast! A paradise for water sports enthusiasts, nature lovers, and seafood fans.
It's the St. Peter Ording of South Africa! Langebaan is a small resort town about 130 km north of Cape Town, on the R27. Located at the northern end of the West Coast National Park, it enjoys sunshine almost all year round, safe waters, and steady winds. The main attraction is the stunning lagoon in the West Coast National Park.
Here we enjoy one last drink by the sea.
We can't postpone the return journey forever; eventually, we have to go back.
But hey, think of all the experiences! Just flip back a few pages!
For many, this would already be a whole life filled with experiences, impressions, and delicacies.
What more could one want?
We are happy to have been here and grateful for the wonderful time.
Now we just need to fill up the rental car and return it, then it's off to check in for our return flight.
The refueling turns out to be a bit of an adventure. The gas station is in sight, but how we navigate the jungle of roads to get there remains a mystery. But we manage that too!
The return of the car goes smoothly without major hurdles or surprises.
After that, we head to check in. Instead of automated machines like on the way here, we are greeted by a lady in a white blouse. We like that! Unfortunately, she looks like she didn't have a good night – her mood and facial expression are somewhat alarming. Perhaps an automated machine would have been the better choice after all.
The rest is quickly told: Security control and then onto the plane. We're on time for departure and are supposed to land in Frankfurt at 5:30 AM.
Before we close our eyes, we look at all the great pictures that remind us of our shared experiences.
After that, we all fall asleep more or less well.
We land on time in Frankfurt, and Germany greets us with cold, wet weather! Oh dear, we want to go back!
But hey, today is not every day, we will return! No doubt about it!
See you soon, Africa!
