Hello there,
after our second night in the car, we wanted to visit Lynn Canyon today. I had already been there at the beginning of my trip to Canada, but Saskia also wanted to go there. And even the second time for me was definitely worth it.
Afterwards, we had planned to go to Deep Cove, but since it was Easter Sunday and all the locals had the same idea, we couldn't find a parking spot. So we went to another small park nearby.
For the night, we headed towards the ferry in Tsawwassen, as we wanted to take the ferry to Victoria on Vancouver Island the next day. In Tsawwassen, we parked in a Walmart parking lot, where you can always find a lot of other campers. I mean, what more could you want: a free parking spot and big washrooms in Walmart, which is open until 11 PM! :-)
Right next to Walmart, there was also a huge shopping center that was even open on Easter Sunday. Perfect for warming up a bit, as it was already quite chilly in the afternoon.
We also had a first in the evening: we used our camping stove for the first time to cook noodles. It wasn't easy to light the gas flame due to the wind. But after a few tries, we managed to do it and after what felt like an eternity, the noodles were ready. And for our first cooked meal on a camping stove, it wasn't bad at all.
However, there was a small 'incident': while we were cooking the noodles next to our car in the parking lot, the police came by. They asked us what we were doing and if we were camping. But luckily, the police officer didn't have any bad intentions and was just asking out of interest. She even wished us a lot of fun and a nice evening at the end. :-)
Since we wanted to leave early for the ferry the next day, we went to bed early tonight. But there was still a surprise for me: two very good friends from the ski resort in Blue River called and asked if they could visit me spontaneously in Tsawwassen. They had just arrived there by ferry. And so, fifteen minutes later, they were standing next to us in the parking lot! After a bit of chatting and exchanging experiences, they had to continue their journey on the same evening.
