Today: beach day
After a leisurely breakfast on our terrace with birdsong and a view of the sea (you can see for yourself here), we made our way to the beach. Of course, we also wanted to use the boat offered by Bruce yesterday. First, we enjoyed the beach and the refreshing Pacific, and now pay attention: Birgit also went swimming!
When the tide was high enough for us to pull the boat into the water from a side arm, the three of us rowed across the Pacific, but only to the next bay. We underestimated the impact of breaking waves on such a nutshell, so we stranded rather roughly and very wet. But that was the highlight of today. We spent the afternoon with a picnic under a shade-giving Pōhutukawa - the so-called Christmas tree in New Zealand. The blooming Pōhutukawa is for Katrin :-).
Unfortunately, we have to continue tomorrow, heading north. We could spend several more days here in this weather. It was already almost hot today, at around 27°C.
