Day 9 (Kanazawa-Tokyo)

Közzétett: 22.03.2023

After another amazing breakfast in Kanazawa, we went straight from the hotel to the train station and then took the Shinkansen to Tokyo. I slept well during the journey and after nearly 3 hours, we arrived in the largest city in the world: Tokyo!

Our first goal, as always, was to drop off our luggage at the hotel. After that, we had lunch in a small but nice-looking restaurant across the street. The ramen I had there was extremely delicious and spicy, so I even had a whole bowl of rice with it.

With full bellies, we headed to the main attraction of the day: Tokyo Tower. We had booked tickets for it a few days in advance, so we had to be there at a specific time.

On the way there, we passed by a temple where many cherry blossoms had started to bloom, which was simply beautiful. When we arrived at the tower, luckily we didn't have to wait because we had gotten premium tickets. These not only allowed us to use the regular observation deck at 150m, but also the higher one at 250m. We even had a small tour up the tower.

Once we reached the top, we were greeted with a spectacular view. The city seemed so small from up there, but what impressed me even more was that no matter where you looked, there was just more city. It's only when you're up there that you realize how massive Tokyo is. City. Nothing but city as far as the eye can see. Hamburg seems so tiny there, like a small village called Bad Bramstedt.

After this overwhelming view, we walked down on foot, not knowing initially that we would be going down outside. Although we were protected by a fence, there was still a bit of thrill going down.

For dinner, we had pizza at a restaurant recommended by Nico's Italian friend. The pizza there was delicious, but the crust was so thin that it quickly broke and made it harder to eat without a base.

Afterwards, Nico wanted to go to the Akihabara district, which is known for its bright signs, anime shops, and more. We spent several hours there before it got late and we went back to the hotel.
