So, I would describe the World Wide Web as a moderate catastrophe, but we adapt to the circumstances. After a visit to the tourist information office, we get into the car with a lot of information material and look forward to the next few days. Yesterday we decided to stay away from the coast for now and give priority to the holiday children on the beach. We stay in the hinterland and behold, it's not so difficult to find a camping spot here anymore. On the way to Boonah, we visit a reservoir where the rowers have their quarters and some young canoeists paddle awkwardly along the shore. The dam was completed in 2010 and already a year later it's filled with water due to heavy rainfall.
Our destination today is the French NP, one of 4 parts of a national park. The park's objective is the protection of 4 mountains. The conservation areas are relatively small, the hiking trails are short. The journey there is already unique. First, roller coaster-like with steep ascents and descents, then extremely steep and curvy up the mountain. Right at the beginning of the hike, we see the unequal fight between birds and a lizard that is climbing a tree to retrieve something that is important to the birds. More and more birds join in the attacks against the lizard, but it ducks and effortlessly climbs the tree. The birds start a lamentation. The view from Mt. French is magnificent, in front of us lies a large agricultural area surrounded by the peaks of many mountains. It is said that the explorers are said to have stated at this point, good for cows. The summit is covered with a sparse eucalyptus forest, unfortunately we don't see any koalas, but there are supposed to be some, instead the first kangaroo hops in front of the camera. The cabbage palms are particularly impressive. That's all from us, we are glad and in good spirits.
