Friends of the Light,
My journey continues to the southern end of the South Island of New Zealand. On the way there I stopped in Owaka and from there I made two day trips to the coast. Once to the Nugget Point Lighthouse and once to Jack's Beach or Jack's Blowhole. I stayed there in a kind of campsite mixed with an old hospital. It's a pretty cool concept to breathe new life and a purpose into the old building. But when I wandered through the creaky corridors to the toilet at night I found it a bit creepy.
The trip to the lighthouse was also a wonderful experience, as the path led along the beaches and the weather was fantastic. The track to the lighthouse itself gave me really great views of the sea and the coastal landscape and only takes a maximum of an hour's walk there and back.
I even saw a butterfly.
Afterwards we went on to the next beach to take advantage of the nice weather.
But more on that in the next post.
Your Britta
