Dear friends,
we have seen Sicily.
After dad has been struggling for some time now whether we can really shorten the bottom part of the mainland, he decided this morning that he would never forgive himself if we really turn around earlier, so today we went towards the southern tip of Italy after a rainy farewell and a beautiful rainbow.
The way there went well, until the moment when we had already passed two police checkpoints and finally stumbled upon an area where even the letters were falling off the street signs. With a friendly "No", we had to turn around even though the question arose why he didn't let us continue driving. So we just turned around. Back on the strangely perfect road, but so overgrown on the sides that it strongly reminded of apocalyptic movies. "Five years after the extinction, our brave heroes venture back into civilization or what is left of it." The accident with the overturned car had attracted even more onlookers, so it seemed that everyone gathered there at the moment to discuss whatever. Even the police had already taken themselves out and stood at a safe distance from the accident site, warning all approaching cars to drive slowly, including us.
But because we were not allowed to continue on our apocalyptic road, our path led us quickly onto the highway and there everything went smoothly. From tunnel to tunnel we fought our way through and every time we could find a light at the end. And then the incredible view came. At first, we weren't sure if it was just a peninsula, but as we continued, it became clear that on the other side, beautiful with sunlight and filled with houses, was Sicily. Finally, we had discovered it. Unfortunately, the place we were in now was not the most beautiful, so after a short break, we set off again, always towards the sun. 😊
It turned out to be more difficult than expected to find a nice parking spot by the sea, as the railway tracks were right next to the beach the entire time. But the brave heroes did not give up, and so they completed their quest in a place whose name I can't remember (something with F 😊) Here it turned out to be an official rest area and since the beach is simply incredibly beautiful. A mix of tiny pebbles and sand and no garbage lying around, so perfect for a nighttime adventure that I have wanted to dare for ages. Maybe tonight. Then we lay down and relaxed as productively as we had already set ourselves today. In the sand, in the sun, after dad's pitiful attempts to fly a kite had failed. Now we just enjoy the view of the sea, warm temperatures, and doing nothing.
See you soon and relax in the stressful life 😊
